The substructure of the Perseus star-forming region: a survey with <i>Gaia</i> DR2

ABSTRACT We use photometric and kinematic data from Gaia DR2 to explore the structure of star-forming region associated with molecular cloud Perseus. Apart two well-known clusters, IC 348 NGC 1333, we present five new clustered groups young stars, which contain between 30 300 members, named Autochthe, Alcaeus, Heleus, Electryon, Mestor. demonstrate that these are co-moving based on how candidate members distributed in position, proper motion, parallax, colour–magnitude space. By comparing their diagrams isochrones, show they have ages 1 5 Myr. Using 2MASS WISE colours, find fraction stars discs each group ranges 10 ?50 per cent. Autochthe clearly linked 1333 may formed same star formation event. seven separate roughly into sets share age: Mestor as older set, younger set.
